An important part of preparation for any MCCH partner team that travels to Kenya is communicating with our Kenyan ministry partners to learn what needed items we may be able to bring them. The summer 2021 partner trip is no different, and in speaking with MCCH Founder and Executive Director, Ruth Owuor, it was determined that the best thing stateside partners could help provide on this trip are Bibles!
Like many places around the world, most people in the Luanda, Kenya, community speak multiple languages. The heart language for many people in Luanda is Luhya, which led Ruth to determine that providing Bibles in the Luhya language would be the most effective way to give community members access to God's Word.
We launched a social media campaign to our stateside partners on Tuesday, June 1st, for what we named "The Bible Project" with a goal of raising $650.00 to purchase 50 Bibles in the Luhya language. The Lord blew us away through the overwhelming generosity of MCCH stateside partners, and within 24-hours we were raising our goal to $1,000.00 to allow for the purchase of 25 additional Bibles to be given to Mescal's Kids at the children's home. By mid-day on Friday, June 4th, the Lord provided over $1,100.00 for the purchase of more Bibles than we had planned for, even after we'd upped the initial goal! All glory to God, and thank you to everyone who supported The Bible Project! Your gifts are going to bless many people with the most important gift that could ever be given- the living and active Word of God.
