A fun walk,, "Miles for Mescal's," is being planned for Saturday, April 6, 2012, to complete the "van fund project" for MCCH. It will be at the Lineville City Park, in Lineville, Alabama, hometown of Mescal K. Griffin, the namesake of MCCH.
Mescal Griffin, like Ruth Owuor, founder of MCCH, had a faithful heart for God and others. She felt that God had blessed her with a car and resourses to bless others with. One of her many ministries in Lineville was picking up children to take them to church each Sunday. She provided transportation for many, many people to out of town appointments and cooked countless Marshmellow Fudgkins and Chocolate Pound Cakes for people in Lineville.
When Ruth met Mescal, shortly before her death, she was taken with the genuine, caring spirit of Mescal. At Mescal's funeral, Ruth heard many stories of how Mescal had impacted children in the community and she and her family decided to rename the orphanage Mescal's Children's Center of Hope.
The fun walk will be held in Mescal's honor and if you would like to participate or contribute, please contact us at chacha25@charter.net. or 8230 Mossy Oak Drive, Montgomery, AL 36117.
